To do business with the Department of Veterans Affairs — or any federal agency — your strategy needs to be as detailed as the work you're trying to win. Too often, the eagerness to land a contract outweighs the patience to do it right the first time. That patience is what separates a business that wins once from a business that wins consistently.

It starts with an honest look at where you actually stand today — not where you assume you stand — and builds outward from there into a plan built specifically for your business, not a generic playbook.

Built Through Six Years Inside the Process

In January 2014, RYMYS partnered as a subcontractor with a verified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) that had secured an opportunity with the VA's Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU). For the next six years, Tarek Maaraba served as Senior Business Analyst and Senior Education and Training Specialist on that team, tasked with answering two questions: what does VA buy, and how do Veteran and non-Veteran small businesses do business with the VA? By the time the engagement ended in December 2019, RYMYS had helped train over 7,000 small businesses on the answer.

Many primary contract holders will tell you most small businesses that reach out aren't truly ready yet. Our job is to make sure you are.
